The Chinese Gardens
The Chinese Gardens are an example of a late Ming, early Ching Dynasty scholar’s garden. Surrounded by a 4 metre high wall, the garden and buildings were built using authentic Chinese handmade tiles and bricks and was crafted by a team of artisans from Shanghai. These gardens are tribute to the historical significance that the Chinese population has in Dunedin and Otago, as well as recognise our relationship with our Sister City Shanghai.

The Botanical Gardens
The Dunedin Botanical Gardens offer a vast variety of exotic and native plant collections to help spark the imagination of gardeners everywhere. The Aviary has over 200 bird species spread over four large flights. This aviary also has a co-ordinated captive breeding programme, contributing to the longevity of birds from both New Zealand and abroad.

The World’s Steepest Street
(Baldwin Street)
No visit to Dunedin would be complete without at trip to the famous Baldwin Street. With a 35% gradient it is recognized by Guinness as the world’s steepest. Have your photo taken at the top and visit the souvenir shop.

The University of Otago

The Dunedin Railway Station

Olveston
A tour of Olveston allows an intimate glimpse of the lifestyle of a privileged family in early 1900’s. St Paul’s Cathedral
St Paul’s Cathedral was built between 1915 and 1919 in the neo-gothic style of architecture. Built entirely of Oamaru Stone, the stained glass windows were made in England and donated by wealthy pioneering families.

Larnach Castle & Gardens
Discover New Zealand’s only castle with stunning breathtaking views of Otago Harbour and of the castle grounds. Built in 1871 by famous merchant and politician William Larnach, it took over 200 workman 3 years to build the exterior and master European craftsmen 12 years to do the interior. The Royal Albatross Colony

These feature the only working Armstrong Disappearing Gun (1886) of its type left in the world.
